One of the added benefits of renting a self catering venue is that you can choose a catering company that you feel suits your individual needs. We strongly recommend that you choose a caterer from our recommended list as they come highly recommended by previous guests and by ourselves plus the fact that they are familiar with the venue. The catering is a very important part of wedding/event and by choosing a good caterer that is familiar with the venue it will allow you to relax and enjoy the day and not have to worry about the finer details.
When selecting a caterer we recommend that you contact all the caterers and discuss your specific needs and requirements with them, they will be able to advise you regarding menus and selections and discuss numbers and room set up also. Again the self catering option allows you to choose exactly the wedding you want, from your arrival, reception and banquet, this can be formal or casual, you can also choose a menu that you feel is appropriate to reflect your theme, be it a traditional Wedding Meal, a Medieval Banquet, a more casual buffet or a chill out barbeque under the summer sun.

We do not have a licence to sell alcohol on the premises, it is necessary to hire a company who can transfer their license to the Castle for your occasion.
There are two options, we suggest you contact them directly for details of prices and what they include. Both companies can look after all your bar requirements including glasses, ice, kegs, gas, beer lines, fridges and bar hire.

Alternatively you can purchase your own alcohol from local suppliers (please see advertisements) and have it served to your guests.
We recommend whatever option that you go for that you have someone on site to serve drink and wash glasses etc.
One major advantage in the castle is that we do not charge corkage on wine or champagne so there are no restrictions on the amount that you bring.
Glasses – We supply wine glasses and champagne flutes, so no need to hire them. You will need to hire glasses for the bar eg. Pint glasses etc.
In relation to the set up of the bar, we recommend if you have a wedding of over 80 people that you locate you bar in the Entrance Hall, if your wedding is smaller than 80 you have the option of having the bar in the Banquet Hall, please discuss with your chosen Bar provider for what you feel will work best for you.
